Maccabee is a smart and self-confident cat, resilient, fun to watch and play with, and very easy to love. He’s fascinated by faces and voices of humans and animals, and enjoys cat entertainment videos. When he’s feeling affectionate he can be heart-meltingly sweet, purring while lying belly-up in your arms, gazing at your face, and reaching for you with both paws. He loves the laser, and running and climbing. He’s cautious at first with scary things like vacuums until he assesses that he’s safe, and from then on is almost fearless. Maccabee was rescued from the streets of Oakland on the first night of Hanukkah, hence his name. He was in poor condition but was trusting of humans from the start, and he recovered fully from his ordeal.
Socially, he’s relaxed meeting new humans, men and women. He needs a home with experienced cat guardians who are prepared for a very active cat. He may do well with children, even high-spirited kids, and perhaps a cat-friendly dog who would like to interact with an energetic young cat. He might need to be an only cat, however, as he can be over-bearing with other cats. He’s comfortable being picked up and purrs when held. His estimated birthdate is in August 2020. Bio# 2235SL-Ma
