Poor Herman’s week did not start out well. A good Samaritan found him in the street on Monday as he was being chased by neighborhood dogs. Worse yet, his right eye had ruptured due to an untreated severe eye infection. His rescue photo is not pretty, but you can see it by clicking here.
Thankfully, his rescuer had a friend who is a vet tech, who then got in touch with us. We approved the vet expenses at Alameda Pet Hospital, and he went in on Tuesday morning to be treated. His right eye could not be salvaged, so he went straight into surgery to remove it.
On Tuesday evening, Herman settled in to recover at his new ICRA foster home, where he has proved to be a friendly and playful kitten, despite his hardships. He’s not even scared of the resident golden retriever! He’ll be available for adoption in mid-July.
